Sizes & Grades

Cloves are generally classified by size, color, and oil content:

• Hand Picked (HP):

  • Length: 9 mm & above

  • Premium grade, uniform, dark color, strong aroma

• Grade 1:

  • Length: 8 mm & above

  • High oil content, export standard quality

• Grade 2 / FAQ (Fair Average Quality):

  • Length: 6–7 mm

  • More mixed sizes, still suitable for bulk export

• Clove Stems: By-product (used in spice blends, oil extraction)

Export Specifications

• Moisture: ≤ 12%

• Foreign Matter: ≤ 2%

• Headless/Broken Cloves: ≤ 5% (varies by grade)

• Volatile Oil Content: 15–20% (Sri Lankan cloves are globally prized for high eugenol oil %)

• Shelf Life: 18–24 months (if stored properly)

• Bulk Export: 25 kg / 50 kg jute or PP bags with inner poly lining

• Retail Packs: 100 g / 250 g / 500 g / 1 kg packs (as per buyer requirement)

• Fumigated, palletized, and containerized for shipping
